What Is IP-SAN and RAID? What Is IP-SAN and RAID?Networked Storage. Built-In Redundancy. IP-SAN (Internet Protocol Storage Area Network) is a method of delivering high-speed block-level storage over standard Ethernet. Unlike traditional Fibre Channel SANs, IP-SAN uses familiar network infrastructure—making it easier to deploy, scale, and manage. Systems connect using iSCSI protocol, enabling virtual machines, databases, and backup servers to access remote storage just like a local disk. RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) adds performance and fault tolerance by combining multiple physical drives into a single logical volume. Used together with IP-SAN, RAID technology ensures that shared storage resources are not only accessible across the network, but also resilient and fast.
IronRAID systems combine IP-SAN and hardware RAID to deliver enterprise-class networked storage that scales with your infrastructure—secure, redundant, and performance-optimized.
